2015 Eugene Curnow Marathon – Race Wrap Up

Hello Curnow Participants,

I hope this e-mail finds you rested and recovered, and I hope you had a great race on Saturday! Results are now posted on our website:

I’d like to thank each and every one of you for being extra careful about litter this year. I saw several people picking litter up off the trail, and the sweepers reported that there was almost none to speak of by the time they came by. After having a record amount last year, I believe we had a record least amount this year. Thank you!!! I’m also happy to report that not a single person died from a litter-related bear attack.

I hope you had as much fun participating in the Curnow Marathon as we did putting it on. These trails are some of our race committee’s favorites, and I hope you had a great experience out there on Saturday. If you have any comments or suggestions, feel free to e-mail us at Contact Us.

As many of you know, we have another race on the same course in two weeks. The Minnesota Voyageur Trail Ultra is 50 miles long and takes place on July 25th. The Voyageur course starts in Carlton and runs to the Duluth Zoo and back on almost exactly the same route as the Curnow. If you’re up for another challenge, perhaps we’ll see you there! More information can be found at www.voyageur50.com.

If you don’t feel up to running the Voyageur, we would love to have you participate as a volunteer. Over 50 people volunteered at the Curnow and were essential in making the race successful. Even more are required for the Voyageur, and we would love to have you join us if you are available. In return for volunteering, you get a snazzy t-shirt and the undying gratitude of 300 runners – what could be better! If you are interested, please e-mail Jamie at Contact Us.

Both the Curnow and the Voyageur are organized by the Northern Minnesota Track Club, a group of trail runners in the Duluth/Superior area. Besides the marathon and 50 miler, we also put on a free weekly trail series of shorter races in the spring and fall. Whether you are local or from out of town, we would love to have you join us at our trail series. More information can be found here:

It was great to see all of you on Saturday! Have a happy, healthy summer of running!
