Eugene Curnow Marathon is cancelled!

Hello fabulous Curnow and Voyageur runners.

We know many of you have received several of these kinds of emails and you know what’s coming next. We are so sad to announce that in light of the ongoing COVID-19 health crisis, we are cancelling the 2020 Eugene Curnow Trail Marathon and Minnesota Voyageur Trail Ultra.

Your race committee has been watching the situation carefully all spring and consulting with our permit issuers, as well as our volunteer base, and have come to the difficult conclusion that there is not a way to safely hold our races this year. While restrictions are starting to lift in Minnesota via planned stages, we are not at the point where it is okay for 350+ people to congregate and likely will not be there by mid-July. We all miss your faces, smiles, grimaces, and sweaty finish line hugs. We miss gathering and running together but we are not willing to put you or our volunteers at risk.

What does this mean for your 2020 registration? While we do have a no-refund policy due to the fact that many of our costs are incurred well before the race, we have crunched numbers and decided to make an exception for these exceptional times – we are able to offer a 75% refund or credit to our runners. Runners on the wait list have not and will not be charged so you do not need to do anything. Registered runners have three choices and will need to make a decision before their race’s deadline, three days before race day.

1. Donation – Take no action before the deadline and we’ll consider your 2020 registration a donation towards helping us continue to put on quality races and support sustainable trail preservation for the future.

2. Race Credit – Log on to UltraSignup and head to your Registration History, pick Curnow or Voyageur (whichever you’re registered for), Registration Edit, and then click Cancel. This will bring up a pop-up; pick the Credit option and Process to receive a 75% credit towards a future Curnow or Voyageur, based on what you paid at registration. You will get a confirmation of your success. You can use your credit toward either race in the future, regardless of which race you originally registered for, and it will be automatically applied when you go to register for a future year. Note that this does not guarantee entry into your chosen race, you will need to register as usual before the race fills.

3. Refund – Log on to UltraSignup and head to your Registration History, pick Curnow or Voyageur (whichever you’re registered for), Registration Edit, and then click Cancel. This will bring up a pop-up; pick the Refund option and Process to receive a 75% refund, based on what you paid at registration. You will get a confirmation of your success. Please note that credit cards all have different timelines for when they’ll accept a purchase refund and your card may reject the attempt. If that happens, we will mail you a check once the deadline to respond has passed.

We will send another email once everything is ready to go with UltraSignup. At that point, you will need to log in and make your choice by three days prior to race day – July 8 for Curnow and July 22 for Voyageur.
